The Spectrum team has marked the completion of a nearshore cable inspection campaign involving innovative, uncrewed sensor platforms to achieve coverage in challenging shallow-water environments. Here’s how the survey unfolded:
- Our in-house UAS pilot-surveyors mapped the onshore and intertidal extents using topographic LiDAR and orthoimagery, before mobilising Spectrum’s AeroMAG® technology to detect cables beneath land and water using aerial magnetometry.
- The compact, uncrewed Maritime Robotics AS Otter was deployed to unlock critical coverage in the nearshore and intertidal zones – collecting high-resolution bathymetry and backscatter data in areas where crewed vessels could not safely operate.
- Our nearshore vessels deployed a suite of geophysical sensors to extend continuous coverage into deeper waters, complemented by visual inspection support from Benthic Solutions Limited and Atlantas Marine Limited.
- This combination of platforms enabled continuous asset coverage, onshore through nearshore, with detailed inspection data and reporting delivered to our client in support of engineering assessments.
