The Spectrum 3 refitted, upgraded and ready to go back to work ⚓
Spectrum’s dule-role crew transfer and survey vessel, the Spectrum 3, has returned from a major CTV and survey refit with Alicat Workboats Ltd following works designed to enhance both vessel performance and operational capability.
Externally, the vessel has undergone a full UHP clean-down to remove the existing antifoul, followed by a complete topsides repaint. A key part of the refit was the redesigned forward bow push-on arrangement, incorporating a new BUOYANT WORKS LTD fender system. This modification supports site-specific J-tube push-on requirements, strengthening Spectrum 3’s capability for CTV operations and safe crew transfers.
Behind the scenes, both Caterpillar C32 1350 hp engines and gearboxes have received a complete rebuild, full repaint and dyno testing on Alicat’s 2000 hp dynamometer.
The upgrades don’t stop there. Internally, Spectrum has also enhanced the vessel’s survey capability with a new operations station and IT upgrades, supporting remote survey capabilities and data backup facilities.
This investment reflects our continued focus on combining reliable crew transfer operations with survey capability, ensuring Spectrum 3 is well equipped for the demands of offshore wind, crew transfer and marine survey operations.
